My kids aren’t always fun. They can be really mean, and know exactly how to push my buttons. “I won’t like Jesus if I can’t have another cookie.” They are selfish, disobedient, little people who eat your food and don’t take care for the things you give them. They take and rarely give…just like their mom and dad. We’re a good little family of sinners.
I feel like I’m daily having conversations with our girls, and God uses those conversations to teach me as I’m teaching them. I recently told one of our girls, “We weren’t created by God to just get what we want and do what we want.” As the worlds came out of my month, I was flooded with all the ways I complain in my heart about not getting my way or getting to do what I want. Disciples are being made in the Zuehlke house, all four of us.
I’m thankful for a Father who loves us even when we are disobedient children, so that I can look more like him and point others to Him.
See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are. John 3:1
