Getting a job. Keeping a job. Feeling unfulfilled at work. Coveting a status that a particular job may bring. Not making enough money. No responsibility. Too much responsibility. Too many hours. Not enough hours.
Work. Work. Work.
Much of adult life is consumed by the work we do away from family, friends, community life, and our leisurely pursuits. Whether we feel like we are achieving high productivity and satisfaction or are grinding it out punching the clock working for pay day and the weekend, we are all susceptible to the danger of defining ourselves in our work.
As Christians we often say things like we are “defined in the Gospel of Christ alone,” but what does that mean? Specifically what would it mean for our work life to be defined by the Gospel alone? What is a Gospel view of work?
In our ever continuing effort to help the Men of Hope connect with one another, and to challenge one another to comprehend what it means to be a godly man in all areas of life, we are excited to announce an awesome opportunity that is certain to benefit our community and those we interact with beyond Sunday morning.
On February 8th the Men of Hope are excited to present our first ever 1 Day Intensive investigating how the Gospel should define our view of work. At the Intensive we will be hearing from some of our finest teachers who come form across all disciplines and occupations. There will be opportunities for discussion, Q&A, and prayer.
The cost of the event is $10 and includes coffee, donuts, and lunch.
We will be meeting at Hope and registration begins at 8:30 AM, and we will begin at the Intensive at 9 AM and will end at 3:30 PM. At 4 PM there will be an optional “Happy Hour Q&A” at The Republic (7 Corners Location). Please note that the cost of the Intensive does not cover any purchases made during the “Happy Hour Q&A.”
All men (18+) are welcome and encouraged to attend, and small groups are strongly encouraged to attend together. Sign up today by registering here.
Over the next few weeks each Intensive speakers will be sharing some thoughts here about their presentation and about how the Gospel defines their views of work. Each of us will also have an opportunity to win free attendance to the Work Intensive, a $10 Republic Gift Card, and a Men of Hope Pint Glass.
